Students undertake a Certificate III in Individual Support and following this can undertake our disability stream.

ANMEC provides all placements in settings such as residential aged care, community aged care and disability settings.

Aged care and disability support are rapidly growing industries in Australia with opportunity rich futures for job seekers. Care and support workers employ a range of important skills, including physical support, social support and inclusive decision-making.

Possible job roles include: personal care worker, home care worker and a pathway to enrolled nursing.

At ANMEC, students can enrol in Ageing specialisation, Disability specialisation or a Dual specialisation.

The training uses evidence-based practice to support the principles of a person-centred approach and engages learners to deliver care that places the client at the centre of service with inclusive decision- making and informed client choices about activities of daily living.

The Aged Care and Home Care sectors desperately need workers as over 200,000 Aged Care workers are due to retire in the next 15 years (Aged Care Workforce Final Report 2012 DoHA).

ANMEC can provide the skills and knowledge that you need through the following delivery option:

17 weeks part time – delivered at ANMEC, comprising of classroom, online learning and workplace practice.

Structured work placement provided

Students are required to complete 120 hours work placement to obtain the Certificate III in Individual Support Ageing or Disability. If you undertake the disability skill set, you will be required to complete a further 80 hours of work placement.

Admission criteria

  • Applicants must be 16 years of age or over
  • Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible visa holder
  • Physical ability to demonstrate manual handling skills applicable as a compulsory component of the course and the clinical industry workplace
  • Applicants are required to sit a Language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment as part of application process. An interview will also be required at ANMEC. Selection for enrolment is a competitive process and completion of the LLN assessment or application for course does not guarantee enrolment offer.
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander & culturally and linguistically diverse background applicants are encouraged to apply

  • Ageing: National Crime check, NDIS Worker Screening
  • Disability DHS aged, vulnerable check, NDIS Worker Screening and Working with Children Check
  • Current Flu Vaccination
  • COVID vaccination may be required by the organisation for placement
