Duration

The Transition to Professional Practice Program – Nursing Aged Care is tailored for new Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Nurse Practitioners working in aged care.

The program is designed to equip new nurses entering aged care with practical operational skills to successfully transition. The program uses a framework of reflective practice, real life problem solving and group learning.

This course will also be available for Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Nurse Practitioners working in regional areas.

First Nations Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Nurse Practitioners are encouraged to apply.

Course content

Topics covered within the course include:

  • Introduction T-PPAC
  • Identifying operational essentials
  • Leading practical daily decision making
  • Quality clinical care (3 sessions)
  • Interactions in the aged care setting
  • Person centred care

Pre-requisite Requirements

  • Must be employed as a Registered or Enrolled Nurse with less than 2 years experience post registration or new to aged care.
  • Nurse Practitioners with less than 2 years experience are also encouraged to apply
  • First Nations Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Nurse Practitioners are encouraged to apply.
  • Must be registered as a nurse with Ahpra and be employed in the aged care sector.

Fees

Fully funded by the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.
